Before the trip

Amazing! Fantastic! Unbelievable! I couldn’t believe my ears when my name reached out from the central radio of our school. I would get to travel to Cyprus with a couple of other pupils and teachers through the Comenius Program "Stereotypes and reality"! How happy was I! I was so enthusiastic that I couldn’t focus in my studying that day! My friends congratulated me about it also. Whole evening I surfed on the net and watched different web pages about Cyprus. And I sank in my dreams about lovely warm weather and polite, happy people...

The job with the project started very soon after that day. We, three girls, began with the Finnish stereotypes about Cyprus and Cypriots. We checked through enquiry which had been done to the pupils of our school last year. After that we counted the per cents of the parts that the pupils had thought about Cyprus and Cypriots. Later, we did the Power Point introduction about the stereotypes.

During that time we got known each other better and could nervous and plan our travel to unknown. What would it be to live one a week in a Cyprian family? What kind of traditions would they have? What kind of people would be there? What about the weather? And the Cyprian school and other members of the project? How would we manage with our English?

We were getting known also our hosts in Msn Messenger. We spent many evenings at the school working with the project, especially with our presentation.
We were very excited about the travel and we thought what we should take with us to Cyprus.
